Yep, that has always been the thing that put me off.. Yes you get a buzz but it isnt much different from a track day. Still fun though and it was the people you met that made it worthwhile for me.

I understand that. When I try to persuade folk to do it they step back in horror when I say "you'll only get 4 runs of 60 seconds per day".

But, for me, the buzz is streets ahead of trackdays because it's the competition that does it for me - not the driving fast (not that I drive fast anyway!) It's for these reasons I enjoy autosolos and autotests just as much TBH. Each to his own as they say........

Without getting into the which is better debate, there are somethings going for sprint/hillclimbs. For a lot of people it's much more affordable, ok your only actually in the car for a short period of time but your getting two days of motorsport for roughly £100 which when compared to bang for buck with racing is poor it may fit in better with folk's finances as they can do this every month rather than having to save up and only take part every two or three months.

The other part for me is the competition, when your racing you can see if you need to push as the cars are on track at the same time with the converse also being true, you can see when you don't need to push and can back off a little - on speed events you can, you need to go at your limit from the off and hope that you put in a clean run and that your the fastest.

It does miss out on the cut & thrust that you seem to get on circuit racing, the unexpected that comes from being surrounded by other cars all trying to get the best road position for the sweetest lap and racing is still on my to do list.

I personally can''t compare it to a track day - it's so much more for me.

Victor, I have often wondered why you couldn't just leave a good, rare Sport 135 well alone ;-)

So long as you are having fun.

Recently passed the r/bout where you and Noops shot off the wrong way en route to Donnie a few years back (think the sign for Newcastle was spotted and it was like dogs with bones!!) - A68/A69 interchange I believe. Thought of you both. Happy days.

I'm thinking we'll try the Lotus Festival at Snetterton / Hethel next year, if they run it again.

Unless Club Lotus event returns to Donnie in the spring.

Both will fall within your enforced sabbatical, Neil, I'm afraid, but I'm sure we can find a pax seat to remind you what it's all about, and you'll be fresh for Donnie 2012 :-)
