Fitted Engine Mount Inserts

Post by Deany1986 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 3:37 am

Had these fitted a few weeks ago when the car was in for its service : http://www.elise-shop.com/toyota-engine ... 15083.html .

Happy with them, car feels quite a bit sharper, pulls away better and dont feel the engine lurching about anymore. Gear change has also improved a bit as well. Would reccomend them :thumbsup

There is a little extra bit of vibration at idle but otherwise i cant really notice any difference. You can also fit the powerflex ones which are cheaper but i opted for the elise shop ones as supposably there is less vibration with these.

i had looked at fitting them myself but ended up getting just getting it done at same time as service. Quite a few have fitted them themselves, quite a few posts on SELOC about them.

I believe the rear mount is pretty straightforward to change but the forward mount is a bit more awkward. This was confirmed by the time quoted by murrays for labour time for rear mount in comparison to the front mount thats between the engine and bulkhead.

This seems like quite a good guide: http://www.trackhq.com/inserts/install.htm

and one of the threads on SELOC talking about them http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php? ... pid4704126

Think you have to be careful with the front mount as it threads directly to the engine.

Kev

Edited: As just had a look at what I had wrote which was wrong, had been talking about 4 mounts when there is only two (front and rear), there are 4 inserts however, two for each mount

Again thanks for the shake down on fitment and heads up on the front mount. Now knowing this info I’m confident that I will do the upgrade! :thumbsup :thumbsup
