The whole insulation thing is, IMHO, a red herring. As far as I can make out, at full throttle the air doesn't spend long enough in the intake pipe to actually heat up, even if the intake pipe was some sort of kettle element ...
£60/m for some shiny tubing - nice business

Robin, I agree on the temp issue, the biggest improvement is sucking air from outside.
