sorry slight o/t

Mass said I was set up with quite a bit of u/steer (walshy said it was my skills - sh1t) I have no idea how the car set up would be classed. I would like to learn more about this in the quest to get better faster and safer on track.

I was flat out up the back and pit straight and my ao48's are nearly done. I know you will be significantly faster than me Ali but its making me wonder if Ive got a fisher price set up.

If you guys decide to do the all day kh let me know if you dont mind, the opportunity to have a chinwag and get some quality feedback on set up, handling and skills with you guys would be brilliant (if you dont mind)

cheers

Flip

ETA I know there were others finding the top of pit straight was catching them off guard and tut had a massive scare there on the sidc sat morning a few weeks ago.

Just to be clear flip.

I have a rather hand fisted approach to track driving. A kind of turn in (hoping for the best) and figure it out at the other end. Something I would like to sort out.

See you at KH

My car is also understeering unless provoked

Andy, I think you still have the shims at the front. Taking them out will improve the understeer.

I don't know driving in another way which isn't risky. Each one has to improve himself. Each driver has its limit. My limit is a little bit further than other's.

Why? Seems a shame after all the effort you put in. :(

Hands fecked Dan, lost the use of my rist and fingers (upwards motion). Specailist sat me down last week and told me it won't come back, looking at further operations next year. I will do my best to prove him wrong.

Putting my efforts into a new house, can't drive the Elise on track (i will have a go though) so might as well use the money for a deposit.

Ach! That's a bit sh*t Alan. :(

Hope your hand does get better. It kinda scares me if anything like that happened to me I'd just have to shut up shop.

Practise practise practise (on track) Whilst it's true that different cars are more prone to under and over-steer, until you get experienced, the driver has more input on what the car does than the setup. You can make the most oversteery car understeer by barrelling too hot into a corner early and similarly, the most docile understeerer will get snappy if you're too brutal off the brakes into turn in and then hard on the power. It's being able to tell what's the car and what's your driving that is the skill. :thumbsup

Shug/Mass,

At the moment Im not worrying too much about set ups, although i'd like to understand it a lot more hence a day spent around you lot / alan / ali etc discussing setups would be a massive learning curve.

Im fast realising that probably the biggest (and cheapest) way i can get the car quicker round the track is by learning to drive properly. It looks like I'l be trying to do the all day event as this would give plenty of free time on track to really relax and try stuff (and go over walshy's and mass's lessons and put them into place).

Might need quite a bit more than 1 day tho :damnfunny

Lucky I now work in an office, if i was still working with my hands things would be a lot worse.

I hope my incident creates a little awarness. I was having a think the other day, if i was wearing my overalls (which were there to use) i would probably only have a cut.

Driver training/practising is the best upgrade one can have :thumbsup No matter what car you drive, you can always make it go faster

When I said your car is understeery, I was of course comparing it to mine. As Shug said, drivining style has a huge effect on the way the car can be made to handle. As a rule, factory set up is understeery to be safe for most drivers (i.e. lift off when going too fast in corners rather than counter steer & throttle control). I think yours still has the factroy geo. However, I won't worry about the geo too much as your car was driving nicely.
