Windscreen washer no working

Post by Scottynic » Wed Aug 29, 2007 8:50 am

Okay guys, washers have stopped working is this common?

If its just a loose pipe can I fix it myself?

Or could it be the motor I hope not cos the car is only 7 weeks old.

Anyone had similar problem?

Normally its blocked jets. Air line to blow the jets through (Or a bit of mouth to nozzle!) Can you hear the motor running?

I am not sure if the motor is working.

Motor died on my S2; admittedly it was older than 7 weeks. Front compartment, passenger side, bottle lifts out for a look.

Have you checked for loose hose connections?

Or loose electrical connections to the pump? IF the car is only 7 weeks old, my guess would be a connection coming loose.

Forgot it moved; on the exige I had gunk in the tank that blocked it intermittently. The dead motor was on the K s2 I had.

I have an S1 and the washer jets have stopped working. The pump is not working and the wipers don't do the usual wipe after the water sprays. Is this likely to be the pump or the stalk failing on the steering column?

Thanks

If the wipers aren't following then it doesn't sound like the pump.

Fuse, or wiring maybe, although if the wipers work on their own (do they?) then this doesn't seem likely.

Is there a relay that controls the screen wash followed by wipe - might be that.

I suspect the stalk is the most likely cause if the wipers work in another position.
