LOL, you know me too well... ;-) But I have tried really hard, sir, honest.

Have also tried searching Technical but haven't found much yet...will have a trawl through your previous posts I think...

Once Doctor Bob has had a look we'll report back I am sure.

usually the best technique for seized bolts is a short, sharp shock, rather than a long duration push. Also, sometimes trying to tighten the nut a tad first can break the seal. Are u at home today campbell? I can pop round this afternoon for a wee go?

Good points, did wonder about both but as ever, "ran out of talent/technique" ;-)

I am around most of the day. The car, however, is not...yet...it's been stranded at National Windscreens awaiting the SLS-meister and *hopefully* is now with him getting its ARB bushes fixed. If it looks like it'll be ready in the afternoon, I'll give you a buzz. Thanks.

LOL. I have oft been the butt of jokes about my meagre capabilities from likes of Fd, Lawrence and other leading Technical lights...but I am glad to say I do know which way to turn a nut ;-) In fact I even know that one of the pedals on a bike has a reverse thread...howz about that!

[but I agree you need to think twice about which way to turn something if you are not "above" it...all to easy to try to spanner the wrong way in confined spaces etc...!]

I only found out that bike thing last month when I bought a mountain bike and tried to change the pedals
