Basic Travel Tool Kit?

As TT2010 will be the first time I've been outwith easy retrieval distance since buying the car, I wondered what people consider must have tools to have with you 'just in case' when travelling with an Elise?

The annoyance is that Lotus can't be arsed to spec two bolts the same... On the bike, a 10mm spanner can take off almost anything on it, which cuts down the toolroll massively. With the tools included in the bike, you can literally take out the engine (if you can get your hands on a jack)

I carry a set of folding allen keys (from my mountain bike days) and a leatherman, which has helped me out of a few binds with some artful bodging. Anything more major and I'm with the AA/phone camp.

As above, not a lot you can reasonably plan for but the AA man brings a van full of tools and a spare pair of hands

If your in the right area it might even be Gordon (Assuming he is still an AA man!)

Should add a mars bar, gameboy micro and a copy of advanced wars.

That way you have something to munch on, and endless hours of fun whilst waiting for the AA in your remote breakdown location, all without taking up too much space - just don't put the mars bar in the boot

When we do road rallies, we usually carry some basic tools as Shug describes, a tow rope, gaffer tape, and some cable ties.

scotch clips are good to carry too, can temp-fix broken wiring in seconds if your that way inclined.

I can second that - got within a mile of home today after TT, before the car ran out of electricity . Alternator gubbed, off to MMC.
