Front Clam

Post by BiggestNizzy » Mon May 17, 2010 10:25 am

Going to replace my headlight covers on my std S1 elise, the fit of these has never really been that good and it has me wondering if at some time it has had a 111s clam fitted at some point in it's life.

how do you check ?

Wouldn't it be the opposite - i.e. the headlight covers were fitted to 111S and if you retrofit them to normal clam they don't sit properly?

Cheers,
Robin

Did the later cars not all come with the 111s clam with a recess for the covers that sat flush with the rest off the body work. I belive if you need a new clam from Lotus they will supply the 111s clam. If its a 111s clam they should sit flush, I belive you can use a mastic sealer to get a better fit

With regards to sealer, do a search as this has been discussed and there used to be a B&Q option which was easier to work with than silicon.

Just had a quick look and found it HERE :thumbsup

111s clam takes thicker covers, if you got tyem from lotus and they don'y fiy right then you hav a std clam and e-bay will have thinner covers that will sit flush.... been on the vino so if that all make no sense then tough hahahaha listening to the police on mtv, every little thing she does is magic..
