Passenger Seat Runner

Post by petrolhead » Mon Sep 26, 2005 10:47 pm

Just relised that the passenger seat is not adjustable. My GF is quite small and wants to be able to rest her feet on the foot rest.

Can I buy seat runner for the passenger side?

You could just get the runners for a LHD driver seat and whack them on. Probably available from Lotus no idea of the price though.

Does anyone know what the mod to the runners is that allows the drivers seat to go a bit further forward? Just by another 2inches or so.

I got this responce back from Lotus:

As the Elise cockpit has always been assymetric, with the focus given to the driver, an adjustable passenger seat cannot be fitted (forward movement would foul the centre tunnel). I you have a shorter legged passenger a 'double footrest' can be fitted.

I remember reading something on Seloc about turning the runners around, but I can't find it. No idea how practical that is mind...

I'm fairly sure (but haven't tried it yet) that you take the runners off and put them on back to front!

Has she tried wearing flat shoes - Mandy is 5'1" and manages to drive the car (even ay KH)

I know some of the footrests are bolted in but most of them are just velcro.

Why not fit some more velcro to the floor & move the footrest back towards the seat. This will have the additional advantage of making a handy cubby for handbags, spare shoes, brolly, scatter cushions, spare handbags, copy of Hello etc, etc. = happy girlfriend.

Seriously though, keep us posted on how you get on turning the runners around, My mrs is a wee bit vertically challenged and I'd be interested to hear how you get on.

Thats a great idea, moving the velcro to move the footrest. As long as you have no mats.

Im going to get the allen keys out tonight and have a look.

I will also let you know how a young, rubbish, short, female driver gets on in an elise......

You could be suprised.

There's more than just a few of the guys from the list who will testify just how quickly an elise can be driven by the fairer sex.

Just added a new (old) video to my website.

http://www.macspower.co.uk

under videos, it's called Mandy Mayhem.

At that time the car was the std 118bhp version with a louder exhaust.

Might be an idea NOT to watch it will your other halfs are around - might give them  's

From reading the above, would it not be easier to change the G/F for one that fits the car?
