So finally got the car out the garage for a wee run on Saturday.... for the 1st time since November...
Running very nicely apart from one thing. On full right hand lock, I get a knocking noise from one of the front corners, in a "thunk... thunk... thunk.." kind of way.
Suggestions as to what it might be???
Cheers!
Dave.

I am sure someone far more knowledgeable than myself will come along .......but I had this on a previous S1 and it was cured by replacing the balljoints.
In truth I ended up getting a lot more items replaced..... steering rack/gaitors/track rod ends etc but the noise disappeared
Jack up wheel and check for play?

See if the noise goes away if you hold your left foot on the brake whilst cornering.
If it does then it might just be the pad leaning on the disk getting knocked by the imprint of the pad that was left by leaving the car stationary for so long.

Robin

Sorry, should have mentioned I tried braking whilst turning and it didn't fix it. The pads do rattle a bit at the moment (which disappears when I touch the brake pedal) so going to put some anti-rattle pads & copaslip in at some point.
Also had the steering rack changed last summer so hopefully not that either.
Cheers!

Check for play in your ball joints and wheel bearing, could be anti-roll bar link (easiest way to check them is to remove them and go for a run to see if the noise goes away).
Cheers
