Hi,
Changed to Braided hoses today, all went quite well until all I thought I had left to do was bleed the system. After what is now hours I've only got half a pedal, It feels firm but travels about half way to the floor before getting a solid feel. I did have to break the two connections off the master cylinder to get into the hose connection on the drivers side. I was wondering if I'm likely to have air in the abs system, if that is likely to be the problem can anyone give me advice to rectify or is it lkely to be air anywhere else.
Basically after a short burts of air form each caliper it has been flowing clear fluid ever since.
Any advise would be appreciated.

The front calipers are known to hold air due to the positioning of the brake hose. If this is where you have air the caliper needs to be inverted whilst bleeding to allow the air to travel from the top of the inside of the caliper to the bottom (when upside down) then to the outside of the caliper and then to the bleed nipple as you turn back up the correct way. Google for more detailed instructions (poss on Seloc tech wiki.)
I don't have any experience of the Elise ABS but I've seen it mentioned that the Lotus scan tool needs to be connected to get air out of this system - brake bleeding - not sure how essential the scan tool is. Maybe someone with ABS could advise.

Sorry Alan forgot about that
. Air does indeed get trapped in the caliper as well as the master cylinder. one way to remove the air is to use the pressure system and pump the pedal very slowly while doing it, how I did it. Removing the caliper works as well but either way uses quite a lot of fluid.

Thanks for the advice, worked a treat. Rotated the calipers when under pressure and was amazed at the amount of air that came out both sides. Hope its still the same in the morning and I'll get everything put back together.

As above, use power bleeder, remove caliper and rotate it as it's bled. (having said that, my S1 didn't have ABS)
