I'm looking for a bit of advice.
Planning to purchase a set of Hofmann's Nitrons to replace my Billies.
I have an S2 111s currently running on Khumo KU31 Sports (195 fronts) & I don't want to compromise road manners for the sake of building a track-day monster.
Randy has advised going for 400lb Fronts & 550lb Rears without the need for helper springs at that rates. He also noted that if i were to change to Toyo R1R's (which he rates highly) in the future, this would remain a good set-up.
Anyone else got a similar set up or experience of running a stiffer set-up (with helpers) on bumpy scottish roads?
thanks.
Alex

Re: Spring Rates
These are actually quite soft rates compared to some that I've heard Randy spec. I've driven Hambo's back to back with mine and it has much stiffer rates (can't comment what, exactly, as I can't remember) but the car felt more compliant than mine on softer rates and standard Nitron valving. Given that experience, I'd certainly take Randy's word for it.

that's what I was wondering but he did say that because I'm not looking to run AO48's/R888's then I could get away with a softer set-up.

Re: Spring Rates
Hi GBOBM. they ar K-Series Billies (111s not 111r). done 44,000 and I suspect that they are indeed done at that, (the front pax side is clunky). hence the change.

Re: Spring Rates
I have had most specs of Nitrons Alex, N1 is on 400/500, N3 was on fairly soft standard springs when I bought it, probably 325/385, but when one went I put on Randy's full spec, revalved, helper springs, 550/750.
I was apprehensive about those spring rates on a 750kg S1, but Randy assured me they would be best for me, and they do work very well. Little roll on track, compliant and controlled on the road with no crash, bangs, wallops, adjusters set to 16/14 from hard. Noticeable on the Glenshee switchbacks that I was not having to back off compared to some of the other cars for fear of grounding or the shocks tearing off the top suspension mounts.(Happened to Scotty once).
