FALC Impact wrench and plumbing

Post by pete » Sun Mar 21, 2010 1:19 am

Not even car content but I have a plumbing issue I hope buying more tools might fix.

We have just finished installing a new bathroom. The bath is completely tiled in and the new tap has failed, running hot water constantly.
The tap needs the cartridge replaced. This is in theory accessible from the top, but in practice the nut is really tight and needs to be held from underneath.
But we can't get access to the underneath without taking a hammer to the tiles.

So I was thinking would an impact wrench loosen it without just ripping apart the plumbing underneath?

And I like buying tools and Aldis have compressors at the moment for 80 quid...

Anyone think this is anything other than the daftest idea they have ever read?

I have an aldi compressor and it's fine for light use, but the impact wrench isn't that powerful. I also have abattery impact wrench - more expensive - but an awesome tool to haev. Makes working on cars a doddle...
