Bilstein Shocks

Post by 2F45T4U » Fri Mar 05, 2010 2:09 pm

my S1 has had upside down Bilstein shocks fitted at some point prior to my ownership.

i need to replace a front shock that's leaking oil and clunking. As this suspension isnt original to this year and model, what am i to order? Is this the S2 K-series suspension?

the front shock part no is: E.117.C.0007

also, any hints where i can get a replacement at a reasonable price before i get it MOTd for spring?

cheers.

Yup - it's S2 K series stuff.

Replacements, the usual Lotus outlets: Dealers themselves, or the likes of Eliseparts.

If memory serves me correctly the proper S1 kit has stiffer front springs than the S2 K-series stuff.

thanks for the replies.
i was going to re use my spring anyway so it disnt end up uneven.

my spring has the following on it:
Eibach 32/05
Lotus A117C0006 FRONT

dont know how that compares to the standard S1, S1 ugrade or S2 kit.

Eliseparts only list one S2 damper no mention of toyota or K series engines. is this because the dampers are the same and its the springs that are different between models?

K and Yota rears are a different length. Probably best to give Geary a call (if you're using Eliseparts - his name is Geary) and ask the question with the part number on hand - even if you don't have it, he'll be able to tell you what you need. Otherwise with the part number, you can also go to a dealer parts guy (if not MMC, B&C get good reviews) and buy from there. Not sure how pricing will stack up in this case.

Just phoned Elise parts.

front shocks are the same through all models. checked part numbers against mine.

rears are indeed different lengths.

one now on order.

thanks all.
