stripped torx screw bolt

Post by Gooldie » Mon Mar 01, 2010 5:13 pm

Need some help, was trying to remove the hard top off the exige but one of the rear torx bolt has a stripped head. Tried a few things but it appears to be on very tight and i can't get it loosened, can any one offer advice how to remove this. thanks

Normal solutions:

Cut a slot in the top and use a flat blade screwdriver
hammer an allen key into the top
weld a bolt to it and use a spanner
Drill the head off and use vice grips to remove the stump

The only one practical I owuld think it cutting a slot and that depends on access...

I know this isn't much help but on mine one of the captures for the front srews has come loose so I can't tighten or remove it. My only option will be to drill/dremel the head off it and see if I can get to the capture. In you case I would slot the head first but if it is seized or really tight you'll probably have to do the same.
