Changing S2 Wiper Motor - now speedo not working

Post by neil » Sun Feb 28, 2010 11:43 am

My windscreen wiper has stopped working. I've checked all of the fuses and they're fine - I'm presuming its on a shared fuse as the manual doesnt have the wiper in the fuse listing. As there's no noise when you turn it on, I'm guessing its the motor rather that the linkage. Is changing it out an easy DIY job?

It's a clam off job I'm afraid.

I've got a brand new linkage lying about but not a motor.

Thanks Dan. Not what I was wanting to hear :(
Now I cant get into the car - could the knackered motor somehow cause a drain on the battery?

Seems unlikely. Can't think of any reason why that would happen.

Has the car been standing a while?

It had only been sitting a week while I've been on holiday but had been playing up the day I'd parked it - cut out a couple of times and had been playing dead. I've now had the AA out who have got me going but reckon I need a new battery. They've also introduced me to the fuses that live in the passenger footwell, one of which is for the wiper and had blown . Every day's a school day . Only problem now is the speedo's not working

Does everything else on the dash work ok?

Sounds like an electrical fault but it may be totally unrelated to the other problems.

Worth checking the connection on the N/S/R wheel speed sensor.

Everything else seems to be working fine - even the MIL light which has now come on  Just waiting for my code reader to charge up so I can see what's causing that.

I'll check the wheel speed sensor when I change the pads later this week.

Cheers

Join the club Neil, N1 and N3 speedos both packed up, not the sensors so just use the rev counter for speed.
