Wheels for 111r

Post by Kinger » Mon Feb 15, 2010 8:38 pm

Hi,

Just had a driver training day at KH today, now I'm looking to get a second hand set of wheels for some track tyres, can you tell me if any of the S2 wheels of similar width are OK for the 111R. Would hate to buy a set and find they clash or have a different offset etc.

Cheers

AFAIK any of the wheels from the Toyota engined cars will fit. There's some info in the Seloc Wiki http://wiki.seloc.org/a/S2_Wheel_Options

You'd be best with Exige wheels (wider fronts for 195's).

Suspension and toelink upgrades first before R rated tryres though...

Sorry for drifting off topic, but how did you find the training day?

I'm booked in next month. Can't wait! Figured it would be a good idea to get some instruction round Knockhill before attending any track days.

A few of us have done it, and if you look at it as experience before a KH trackday then it's well worth doing. If nothing else it will really help your overall confidence and lines on the track. Although everyone rates the SIDC days (and rightly so) they can be quite fast if you are a complete novice and the driver training at KH made the whole thing a bit less daunting for me.

Other training will help with general car control more though.

Everyone is like that to begin with. We're a friendly bunch and you'd pick it up quickly so don't be shy.

Hi,

I can really recommend it, it was a good confidence booster, the weather was terrible on Monday but that made it more of a challenge. The instructor was really good too, he let me build up to where things were just starting to break away and on one occasion it went completely astray but that just brought my back down to within my capabilities ( completely my fault). I've now got the bug, I'm booked in for Hot Marques on the 13th and hopefully get in for the SIDC day on the 27th ( Problems with my Palpal account so not sure if I'll make that one). Now just looking for a second hand set of wheels for track tyres.

Cheers

If you are having a problem with PayPal on SIDC then e-mail John and he will sort it out for you.

Thanks for all the help you guy's have given to me.

Worth pointing out that track tyres are a total waste of time until you can consistently lap over the abilities of the road tyres (which are good on an Elise) Get a few TDs under your belt with a standard setup before seeing if you need or want the extra grip that track tyres develop. Go fast with a standard car and you'll then go much faster when you start upgrading - any upgrade path starts with the nut holding the wheel :thumbsup
