Saw this and couldn't help thinking about an Elise conversion.
http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm
It's fitted to a seven for development on their site but there's a guy with one in an Atom which suggests it's likely to be possible to fit in an S1!
400HP, 245LbFt ....and more gadget factor that you can shake a stick at.....cool

RST (IIRC?) got as far as a prototype fit of the RST V8 in an Elise chassis, but the costs would have been astronomical - the bare engine alone is £10K, then a custom Quaife gearbox, etc, etc. At one point McApe was looking seriously into it until he tried to get prospective insurance quotes and no-one would touch it!
There's also the longitudinal-mounted V6/V8 one that (is it Pilbeam?) are doing - again, megabucks. Was at Autosport show I think this year, one of the big trade shows anyway.

Yeah its mega bucks but top marks for technical wonderment, you've got to admire the engineering. Also sounded amazing, a V8 revving to 10k rpm. dribble..
I think 400 bhp is the basic one, but yes, a moot point when put next to the install costs. SC Honda still looks like the most accessible/reliable big power from what I've seen so far (still a noob though

).

AFAIK . . . the rebuild intervals are shockingly short . . . I assume you could detune it to lengthen them, but all the same . . . perhaps not practical for anything other than a polishers delight or a racecar . . .
There's a guy that runs one of these in a se7en in the UK . . . or basically the same engine, dual hyabusa based v8 . . . and there were a few caterhams (fatboy SV's) made with this (or a very similar bike engined V8 but supercharged (
http://www.evo.co.uk/carreviews/evocarr ... vante.html )) fitted . . . there's also a project with a bike engined V6 under way . . .
