Happy new year.
Tried to take my wifes car into work this morning only to find the breaks are stuck. Its a Micra thats kept in a car port, has not been used for a couple of weeks but i have been turning over the engine .... just neglected to actually move it (with the exige i always parked in a garage, breaks off, brick behind the wheel to avoid this exact problem). Hoping its just the ice thats frozen then up but as the car has not been wash in a year it may very well be rusted brake plates (atlough its was MOT'd in October).
Any suggestion ?
Thought about boiling water as a start, maybe remove the wheels and take a hammer to the pads/calipers although one side of the car is too close to the wall to get at them.

rookie errors i know
Thanks for any help
Scott

crack with a hammer is the normal fix - tricky if you can't get to it!
Get under it and smack them from there?
It's not drums on the back is it?

Just drive the car. The driven wheels will soon unlock when you bring the clutch up. The undriven wheels might drag along, especially if the road is a bit icy.
Get somebody to sit in the boot (the more the merrier) - the more weight you get over the wheels, the more likely it is to break the wheels free
Cheers,
Robin
