accelerator pedal spring

Post by jj » Tue Sep 13, 2005 7:43 pm

Just got into car and there are bits of what look like stretched paper clips and the spring That is attached to the pedal is just hanging there.

What does this do and to where does it attach? I cant remember what it looked like before.

Anyone got any ideas on how to bodge/repair?

Tonight of all nights!!!
The spring pulls the pedal back, you should be able to bodge it with any spring, if you can't get one withthe right hook etc on the end then tie it with sting.
you might also try some elastic shock cord (the tent peg type stuff) as a bodge. failing that go to fyfe and mcgrowthers or crockets tomorrow.

Found a box of these in the toolshed, gave one end a squash with the vice and opened up the other end with pliers, and its now the perfecct length and is holding the spring back where it should. A lot tougher than the .25mm thick bit of wire that was there before. job done!
