One or two fans?

Post by whaleys » Mon Aug 17, 2009 3:50 pm

Chaps,

My radiator is away being repaired free of charge, many thanks to Geary and Eliseparts and Wayne at Pro Alloy. I have decided to replace the fan since the clam is off. My question is, do any of you think its worthwhile getting two fans side by side as per this elise-shop pic...

Then if I were to go with that, since there is only one connector if they were to be connected in parrallel (either by scotch clip or other) would that put too much load on the loom?

(car: S2 K-series with the Pro-Alloy radiator)

Cheers,
Graeme

More weight, no point? Maybe in CA or something, but not Scotland, IMO...

Second thing I meant to ask is does anyone see the value in the upgraded fan? I read on Elise-shop that because its a bit bigger crap gets caught more easily meaning it gets clogged up and seizes quicker. The one that I took off was the Upgraded one, wondering whether its worth replacing it with the same or standard.

I went for two fans.. but only because my car will do a lot of idling when waiting in the que... and because it will have the oil/water cooler fitted.. yes its more weight but as it appears it could have been a temperature management related issue that did it in for my last engine the whole car is being re-built to be reliable. Laminova oil cooler, prt, twin fans, alloy rad, selectable fan settings with controlled switchable idle etc.. etc..

For a road / occasional track car.. complete and utter waste of time...
Standard fan should be fine, uless your a regular commuter and spend ages in traffic, then maybe it might help... but probably not..
Well it moves... might as well make the most of it....
