Tyre replacements/Repairs

Post by undone » Fri Aug 07, 2009 5:59 pm

I've got an S2 elise that's picked up a screw in the driver's side rear tyre. It's on the tread about an inch or so from the side wall. Seems to be holding pressure but I don't want to drive around on it any more than is essential..

Any recommendations for somewhere to buy/repair tyres in Edinburgh?

Cheers

The last one I had like that I took to ATS at the corner of Bonnington road Pilrig street open till 12.30 on Sat I think
They checked it in the water bath not Puncture or loss off pressure ~No Charge :thumbsup
Iuse them for tyre change overs too cash in hand no questions asked and they are usually quiet on a Sat morning as they mainly do Trucks and vans with a few cars
I havent used anywere else since I started using them tried a couple of the others last time I needed tyres swapped some said wouldnt do them if not purchased from them others wanted £12-16/corner compared to the £25/4 change overs I paid there the last time

the compressor at ATS is broken, they suggested mcchonechy's on salamander street but they couldn't do anything because they couldn't jack the car up... next option is MMC on friday and a 150£ spending spree...

CLCM Sighthill, but phone first, it's not an arrive n while u wait type place. V good though.

TBH, any of the big tyre chains are well able to inspect a puncture and unless it's right up against the sidewall, I believe most are repairable. Hi-Q in Notts looked at my car back in April and did a sound job...although I monitored how they were jacking it up, asked them to take care of the alloy upon tyre removal etc etc, just to be sure.
