Water pump change out and timing belt

Post by ClarkyBoy » Sat Aug 01, 2009 3:22 pm

Is there anyone available in my area that has done this on an S2 that could possibly help me out?

im pretty good with a set of spanners but im no mr Haynes!!

so if there is anyone free this week in the evenings to help me out it would be much appreciated, i will get the parts on monday, i have use of Kintore Bodyshop + all the tools, cam locker etc for the job along with bit by bit insructions, thanks to Mike at Jim King Autotune, just think it would be handy to have someone who has one the job before to help out as i need the car for KH next weekend......!

thanks!

Clarky,
if you need a hand I'm about and have done this "cough" a few times "cough". Also actually have a spare brand new water pump and gasket in the garage. Easy enough job once you get the pulley bolt undone.

Job Done,

Big Thanks to Mike for his help and expertise in the field of "tricky jobs on the elise" :thumbsup

It was a fair shift - 7pm - 12am! but thats the water pump, timing belt and tensioner changed, coolant replaced. seems to have sorted the water leak, it bloody better have anyway!!

let the car sit and idle afterwards, come up to temp, checked water level again, doest look like there are any leaks or air locks, the temp is staying even 88-90 deg. which is what it was before.

fingers crossed thats the probelm delt with,

Once again thanks to mike, much appreciated - i may have given up had i been left to my own devices!!

im owe you a pint or several!

:cheers

Its a good team of mechanics that we have now built up in the area, Craig, Mike, Clark, Alan, Kev, probably another couple in the undergrowth.

Bodes well for the future, especially for me.

Glad to hear you got it sorted, guess you didn't need to remove the engine mount in the end. When I left it seemed liked you would be a while.

We did have to unbolt the mount and drop the engine at one side, but it actually gave us a little more space to work in the end,

MNR sounded good when you left, forgot to say when you came back!

Any time that suits you Clark for putting your bits back on. Saturday is KH for 0800, so leaving Aberdeen around 0600.

I would not have a car to come down to you on Saturday morning with N3 being off the road.
