Front indicator lens

Post by whaleys » Tue Jul 07, 2009 10:01 pm

Hey Guys,

My front indicator lens popped out today, looks like the clip was broken and a fix was attempted (not by me). The area around where the clip was is cracked. I'm thinking I'll need to replace it but it does seem to cost a small fortune! So I am curious if anyone knows where I can get one at a reasonable price? Does anyone have a spare one they'd want to sell? I've seen a solution with a bungee cord but I think the lens is a bit too cracked for that to work.

Thanks,
Graeme

Edit: Its the drivers side lens...

two of mine have gone recently in the exact same way as yours - passenger side then driver's within about two weeks of each other. got mine fixed under warranty - i bet mmc have a load that they've just taken out to be replaced. maybe they could sell one of those on to you to attempt a repair job?

I read on SELOC about some of the S2 guys gluing them in with silicone sealant or the bathseal strip mastic strip from B & Q or Wicks
Seems a common problem

Thanks guys, silicone is sounding like my best option. How much silicone should I use do you think?

Mine too.
Just used a thin line of clear silicone around the lens and that seems to have done the trick.

Me too. I didn't use a lot though, just a dab in either side to make sure it stuck, and that I could get it back out again when necessary. :D

I was just about to start a thread to ask about the above, my RH went 2 weeks ago, with the LH unit going this morning (warranty, then warranty)

Aahh well, nothing had fallen off for months....at least I am not alone, silicon it is. :thumbsup
