If you go for the replacement glass Elise shop have a Lexan Protective Screen

'Twas Iain F. IIRC. I still have the one he made (donated when he sold the car). Goes in the Exige when the hardtop comes off. :thumbsup

Car hasn't moved since the screen smashed 10 days ago. Having major hassle with Norwich Union and Autowindscreens who I think were RAC windscreens in a previous life.
NU faffed about and quoted me 3 different figures for my excess initially but the main problem is there is a £500 limit for glass claims on the policy. Between speaking to MMC and Autowindscreens, they claim it is not possible to replace either the front or rear screen on an Elise for this amount due to the clam on/off work.
So WTF is the point of a specialist 'Elise' policy (I am NU via CCI) where the glass cover doesn't actually cover the glass replacement ?

A possibility (so don't sue me) is Autowindscreens are putting a huge markup on the glass, fitment and they also told me they also put mark up on the labour rate MMC give them to bill back the insurance co. After speaking to MMC I know they are billing at the lower end of the estimated time for the clam work. Basically I think this should come well within the £500 cap if excessive mark-ups weren't being billed.
Going to look into taking the rear clam off myself.

Can you not get a quote from MMC or an independent directly? If you can get it done for under the £500 mark NU will pay out - you'll have to pay then claim it back. Run it by them and get agreement first and you shouldnt have any problems. The last thing you want to be doing is taking the clam off yourself

Load of bollocks.

My Insurance Policy that was with SAGA was RAC Autowindscreens. I averaged two a year for many years which necessitated the clam off, and they were all covered under the Insurance cap limit. Mind you I did not use MMC.

The last one they had to replace three times because they screwed it up.

Tut

Oddly enough RAC Autowindscreens translates into Portuguese as vaqueiros! I had a few interesting weeks with them and my last car.
