I finally discarded my original set of S1 covers last summer...and spent hours removing the welded on silicon I'd used to seal them, from the bevels on the clam!
What might I use for my new set which is still fairly secure, but less of a PIA if I need to remove them for cleaning etc?
Had thought about a collection of thin velcro strips all round but might be too thick etc. Someone mentioned a bathroom edging strip type thing once but couldn't locate the right thing in B&Q. Elected not to buy the Eliseparts adhesive strip kit for £7 at time of ordering, figured a bit steep for a metre or two of stuff...
cheers

Re: Securing S1 headlamp covers
I removed my S1 covers for cleaning a couple of years ago. I used the homeulx black bathseal stuff from B&Q and it was just the job. Whilst I never had to remove them again, I think with a slight amount of heat they would come away quite easily. I don't think the stuff ever really sets, it is just kind of gooey. I also used a small amount to seal my shower screen and know that aftershave removes it from a white bath
I had difficulty finding the right stuff and tried one or two B&Q's. If you get a chance have a search on SELOC as there may be a similar alternative. No doubt Screwfix will have something.
Not sure if this is what I used or not but my stuff was black, not white CLICKY. If you find it in store take it out of the box and have a look at it. It comes in a roll sandwiched between two strips of non-sticky backing paper.

Butyl sealing strip is it's proper name, available in a few places for not a lot, but having tried it a few times I have to say tiger seal is the way forward... You don't have those are-my-lamp-covers-coming-off moments on the m-way!

I thought I was loosing it there. I could have sworn that I had posted about this in past, but couldn't find the thread. As usual, Google is your friend

Stewart,
I knew you'd posted the answer too...somewhere
thanks for that, also got an offer of some double-sided stuff so will look into both
needs to be sticky yet easily removable for inevitable future cleaning...
