the fuse?

well the alarm still imobilises the car and the indicators still flash so i guessed the fuse was ok tbh - is there a seperate one for hte siren?

the horn is thru the little grille on the frond passengers side - found this on saturday after 2 hours of hacking away at the car and thought i'd found gold only to get natalie to hit the horn and almost deafen me!

Here's a left-field suggestion...

Has it ever worked?

If not, are you sure that it hasn't been removed for some strange reason? Is the siren a separate unit from the alarm itself?

This is just me going through a wee logic process, I have no idea about the alarm on the S2 (and very little about the S1)

Service manual shows Fuse number 2, 2Amp being for Alarm Siren....

Fuse should be black and it looks like the only 2amp in there..

you cant fit a siren ,the one in your car is not just a siren it has electronics in it that are part of the alarm and it will only work with the control box that it is matched to

I now have a non working siren on an S1. System works other than that. Have checked the fuses, all fine. Phoned MMC, said i need the code from when it was first installed, otherwise a whole new system is needed  . Anyone else had experience with S1 siren's packing up?

No but I have contacted Lotus before for mt Cat1 certificate for insurance purposes so if it was a factory fit they will have it on record.

Ninja,

I've found the siren module on my car - so should be in the same place in yours.

Go to the front of the car - lie on the ground - in front of you there is the main grill with the driving lamps - to the left and right there are smaller grills - if you peer into the right hand one (pax side) you'll find a small black box - it's the siren.

also the gumf MMC spouted at me isn't quite correct. The 6422 on the S1 is a plug and play system. MMC wanted £162 to supply and fit the new siren, including getting a code from the factory. I have spoken to cobra, two minute job to fit the siren yourself, undo bolts, unplug siren, plug in new siren, do bolts back up. Job done.

£62 for siren from Ray Smith delivered. No worries. £100 saved :D .

Might want to contact Lotus and update them with the serials etc and get your CAT1 certificate from them.
