In the absence of any kind of owner's manual, what do Lotus recommend as the right oil for a 40,000 mile S1? I'm thinking a 10W/40 semi-synthetic?
I used to think expensive = good but I was put right on that front a long time ago...

Gareth - when you say you've got 'some' do you mean half of an old litre bottle in your garage or did you buy a fair bit? I need enough for a full oil change, you see. I'm not topping up the p1sh that's in there just now...I hate to think what it was - £4.99 for 5litres from ASDA if those tyres were anything to go by
Can anyone tell me the oil capacity of the S1 Elise? I guess its in the hand book but thats not much use to me seeing as I don't have one...
Cheers!

Think it's meant to be 5 litres IIRC but I seem to remember reading that people tend to only get 4.5 litres in.

Yip - and you want a good synthetic. 10W40 would be fine. I use Mobil1 motorsport 15W50 - largely because it's got a high temp tolerance and my engine fries oil in a trackday...

I have enough for a oil change.
