leather retrim by lotus or not ?

Post by Jamie84 » Wed Mar 05, 2008 5:43 pm

I have always fancyied getting my seats done with orange/black leather combination, for example http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/404333.htm

I know bout the lotus retrim but they can take between 4 and 6 weeks apparently , and my girlfriend aint sitting on my undertray, if I were to send one seat then the other.

So my question is , Can other leather re-trim shops produce the same quality/patterns as lotus would ?

My old man had my mums 330 fully retrimmed , seats /consol/doorcards/handbrake and few other bits in 2 tone leather and it was a top job, but can these places produce orange leather ? Might be silly question ?

If anyone can recommend any trimmers in glasgow I could pop round and ask? will find out were my old man went could have been somewere in Johnstone ?

Thanks

I had my Esprit done by david hannen in mussleburgh, you can see it if you like but I'd go to lotus if i was doing it again as I don't think they're that much more expensive..

I thought you were selling it for an S?

If you are, its going to cost you for the retrim and probably be worth less when you sell it as it will be a bit of an acquired taste.

It was probably Baillies in Johnstone who did the work, they did my sill protectors for the exige last week. They are awesome but I have never seen a Lotus done by them.

I did notice the prices at lotus were reasonable but its the possible 6 week wait that put me off.

yeah "s" is still on my mind , but weighing up other options ...to sell I am gonna have to sort rear clam /frontclam(stonechips) and curbed alloy to fetch a good price , not to mention my insurance runs out in may . Could cost around 3 or 4k all in, wondering If I should just hang on to it little longer and maybe do few mods .

Really dont know what to do :(

What did you cover the sills wth JJ? Noticed somone mention alcantara before but cant help think that would get done in far too easy ?

Cost to change is what you need to look at, if its going to cost that much to get your car sorted I`d hold onto it as its money lost otherwise.

My sill protectors are Alcantara in red, and it wears pretty well I just needed the rough black fabric bit replaced, still looks good even though its a few years old now. On my S2s the rubbery sill protectors looked way worse than the suede does.

totally , meant to be saving for new house also , could see me sticking with it to be honest , sorting the rear clam and wheel leaving the stonechips till selling, maybe get few mods dunno what though ? can only think of cat replacement off the top of my head.

how much was the sill retrim mate if you dont mind me asking ?

Are the seats different to an s1?

If they do fit:
A quick look on SELCOCK:

£150 spend, use seats for a couple of months, sell them on when you get yours back?

Reckon i've seen s1 seats cheaper too...
