Front Clam repair

Post by Chewitt13 » Fri Aug 17, 2007 7:23 am

Had a bit of a bump against the curb a while back, at the time it looked like no damage at all.

but i have since noticed that where the undertray meets the front clam, the plastic is all cracked and the bolts are no longer secure. this then vibrates when driving force me to drive faster to drown out the rattle

Dows anyone know if the front clam is fixable, if so how much? i may as well get all the stone chips fixed at the same time.

Also - where can i get a highly illegal small front numberplate?

A lot of people use Steve Walker in Bathgate (search for that on google or on here to get a contact for him).

As it's underneath I am sure it can be repaired because you don't need it to look 100% perfect (actually, I think provided you have most of the pieces, the clam can always be repaired to adequate cosmetic level - they just glue it all back together with more resin/gf on the inside and then repaint it).

You should do it sooner rather than later as water ingress into the cracks will make the job harder in the long run.

Cheers,
Robin

You may get a better price if you offer to remove the clam yourself and deliver. Maybe a bit difficult to get the clam to the repairer though.
