Hi guys,
does this exist in electronic format on anyones hard drive....?
Might as well start swatting up before I get the car...
How do oil coolers work? I can see they are similar heat exchangers to a radiator, but do not know what fluid passes through them, where it goes, etc. They're not just extra radiators in the same circuit as the rad are they?
Cheers,
Mike

The clue is in the name
Hot engine oil goes in and comes out cooler before going into the engine to get hot again...then cool....then hot...and so on. Do I get a prize for the least technical technical post?
Seriously though you're right, it just acts as a heat exchanger, like a radiator in a coolant system but for engine oil.

Prevents oil starvation on corners, unless you plan on doing plenty of circuits with long high G corners you wont need it.

There isn't alot of oil in it really. Basically it doesn't.... Like your heater matrix when you flush the coolant it just sits therre, only about half a pint anyway I would think.
