Both feet first
Both feet first
Hello all,
I've liked all things Lotus for a long time, finally decided to push the button on an S1 Honda. I was going to convert it myself ( when I say myself, I mean handing it to professionals) but after costing it up I decided buying one already converted was the best option and dealing with any issues later.
It claims 326bhp and it feels like it too I'm used to high powered cars, but modern ones and felt I was losing my analogue skill. Getting back to basics with this one!
Honda conversion
Rotrex supercharged
Charge cooler.
Blow-off valve.
Fuel swirl pot system running a Bosch secondary fuel pump.
Custom exhaust manifold (stainless)
Honda data ECU.
Secondary radiator
Kaaz LSD.
Powder coated rear arms.
Powder coated rear subframe.
Gaz gold coilovers.
Uprated toe links.
AP racing oversized brake discs and alloy bells with Pgid Rs14
Goodridge braided brake lines.
Corbeau motorsport seats.
Harness bar.
Schroth Harness’s.
Elise parts quick shift gearstick.
Treated foot wells. (more on tbis laster)
Carbon rear spoiler
Elise parts carbon side pods
Elise parts front splitter
160/111s egg front grill.
160/111s smoked front indicators.
160/111s headlight covers.
Motorsport four fin diffuser
Team Dynamic Pro Race wheels in anthracite.
Yokohama AD08
Drove it 250 miles home. Broke down, who knew 12Litres meant empty...
Did some donuts in my car park to release sticky diff
Took it to Kenny Brown to have it checked over. List identified prior to dropoff:
1. Remove stick from fuel tank filler (don't ask)
2. Flush and replace oil with 5/40 for now
3. Flush and replace cooked brake fluid with 5.1 (someone had put leak repair into it...)
4. Investigate suspect supercharger pipes
5. Investigate sticky diff
6. Investigate rich running
7. Change battery
8. Investigate coolant pong.
During the remiedials the following was identified and it'll be going back in until we're 100% happy its ready for use.
NSR small play in bottom ball joint
NSF small rack play & slightly nothcy
Front ARB D bushes cracked
Gearbox leak from filler plug (no access, covered with chassis)
Rear brake pipes very badly corroded
NSR outer toe links corroded
Shocks?
Charge cooler pipes front to rear substandard and hairline cracked
Gear change notchy.
I'll have a look over the forum and will no doubt have some questions later in my remedial build.

Welcome!
Sounds like some spec! It's in good hands at Ken Brown's. I have had two cars into his garage this week.
What colour is it? Will keep an eye out. Are you local to Glasgow?

Thanks all, It's blue, and some pictures:
I'm going to chuck some cash and time into it to get it back to immaculate condition. It's good, but it's not right and those corroded brake pipes are giving me the fear
If there's anything I should especially be looking out for then please let me know and I'll get it sorted

Nice!
Re: Both feet first
Oof!
Welcome along.
Give the toe links a waggle and check for play. The uprated ones are rose joints so will develop play, just a matter of when. They tend not to let go completely like the standard ones, hence "upgraded" Same goes with all the suspension stuff - get it in the air and give the wheels a waggle. Nothing is as good as a sorted S1 and nothing is as scary as one with a bit of slop in there.
Enjoy!
