New europa owner advice needed

Hi All,

Just thought I'd introduce myself and seek a bit of advice. I bought a black 08(57 plate) europa S back on the 16th of December but due to work, the weather and holidays and so on I've just managed to get it delivered today, needless to say i'm delighted with the car, the only problem being I think the resistor pack has had it as I'm getting nothing from the heater or aircon on all three speed settings. I've checked the fuses and they seem to be fine, anyway my question is the car was registered on the 17/01/08 so the warranty is up today! what is the chances of lotus still doing this under warranty or should I be back on to the dealer who I've already spoken to and said it was working the last time he checked?

Many thanks in advance, Marc.

P.S brilliant site :D

I would be on to the dealer. Havent the garage got some sort of responsibility or duty of care for goods since its only just been delivered and its not been working since you had it. I would assume they should assist or point you to a lotus dealer who should help. I wouldnt be paying anything though to have the matter resolved. Also have you not got a 14 day cooling off period?

Yeah, if it's just been delivered, it's not been delivered working, so it's a dealer issue. On the phone to them pronto. :thumbsup

Thanks for the replies and the welcome. Spoke to the dealer this morning and he said the car is covered by a 6 month warranty supplied by them,so I'll have to wait until tomorrow as he is posting the spare key and the warranty to me.
Cheers,Marc.

Welcome.

The car dealer has a legal responsibility for the car's roadworthiness for the first month, so they should and will sort it for you

Cheers
Kevin

Spoke to mmc today and they were really helpful. The guy I spoke to I think his name was Craig told me to get it in to him asap as he said that lotus was normally quite sympathetic as the warranty has only just run out, He did say that it would not be through warranty but customer care does anyone know what this means?

First things first - get in touch with the dealer who supplied the car. Forget about the warranty etc it's almost guaranteed it's not covered. Tell the dealer to get in touch with MMC and arrange the repair on your behalf - you have just bought it and that's frankly just not good enough.

Secondly - do not let MMC start work on it until the above is agreed. If he is telling you they may do it under Customer Care it means the warranty wont cover it but Lotus may pay for it for you - chances are they won't and you'll be stuck with a big bill.

Kick up a stink with the original dealer and you should be fine. It's his problem, not yours.

Enjoy the car :thumbsup
