Thanks for ALL the comments!
Mandy - I'm in Shawlands, so see a few Elises kicking around. Hope to add another to that soon enough.
Mark - I spotted your car and it looks like a cracker. Without wanting to start an S1 vs S2 battle, my previous Elise was an S2 so I think I'll be sticking with another of those...best of luck with the sale anyway.
Cheers
Mark

Cheers all.
Scott - If yours has got it's winter coat on at the moment, then I think I live round the corner. It's torture driving past it....must buy my own soon.
Can't make beers this weekend unfortunately, but hopefully another time.

Yep, that's mine. Hopefully your search goes well.
Re: Newbie to SE
After what seemed like an eternity, I finally picked up my new car last Thursday. (Apologies for the lack of photos...I didn't get a chance at the weekend and the weather hasn't really been favourable this week! I'll hopefully remedy this at the weekend)
I drove a few cars both up here and also down south, and finally settled on a 59 plate silver SC touring. Thanks very much to Graeme for helping with some brokerage - he may not be directly selling, but he is most definitely keeping his hand in! He had sold it new from MMC to it's previous owner...maybe someone on here?
Anyway, absolutely delighted with it. My memory may be playing tricks, but it seems far more refined than my 2002 S2, and also unsurprisingly a hell of a lot quicker. What I hadn't forgotten was just how much you can feel through the steering wheel....absolutely nothing else I've driven compares.
Now I just need some dry weather to get the roof off!
Cheers

Re: Newbie to SE
Mark, sounds like a great purchase and just in time for the fine weather (wait until the snow passes this weekend though eh!).
Silver, hm, one of the best colurs. Very stone-chip resistant
Consider the Lotus Breakfast Club on 1st Sunday of the month. Next is in the Edinburgh area, a short hop for you westerners..see Meets or my sig for details.
