Phone car kit advice

Post by Sanjøy » Sun Aug 26, 2007 9:21 pm

Evening gents.

Looking for some advice on car kits. Currently have the wired nokia kit in the car where I slot my 6310 mobile in to the cradle and it then connects to the speaker, mic and silences the radio. That car is going soon so looking for a replacement car kit.

Has anyone used the Nokia bluetooth car kit ?

I also have a tech question.

Looking at this diagram it looks like you could have two inputs to the main "controller unit", would this mean I could use a wired cradle for my work phone and then have the bluetooth device connecting to my personal one ?

Else can you pair two mobiles via blue tooth with the nokia car kit and answer either when they ring ?x

I'm pretty sure you generally cannot do this. I tried it with my Nokia work phone and Sony Ericsson personal phone with a Sony Ericsson bluetooth headset. It will only pair with one phone at a time. Even the Sony bluetooth kit that lets you pair with multiple phones still has to be physically switched between the phones to make calls outwards and only one can be "listening" for incoming calls at a time.

take the kit out ? and re-use in next car usually just a standard inline connector at the back of the radio which tie it into the speakers, mute etc. should only take an hour

the kit you have highlighted is good. this can be upgraded to from the old 6210 kit by just changing the cradle. Yes you can use it as blue tooh and as a cradle. the little button bit is optional, gives you volume control, etc, if it is using the supplied speaker, but if you can get it through the car as well this then give you 3 volume controls, the phone itself, the car rdio control and the little blue button.

Now you know the parts no try ebay for the same stuff

If it is.............and I have had a few (E class) that is............

As JJ states the paint is not wonderful (official recall) and an examination at your local dealer will determine if it requires more work

Front suspension needs rebushed/new droplinks/ shockers after 40,000 miles
Especially diesel......loads of weight over the front end.

If it isn't a Merc...................

I would be wary that it is not just 5 devices that it can pull the memory from, and not 5 people in your Merc all at the same time all with their bluetooth switched on receiving calls able to use your Parrot bluetooth.

I in this instance would google these kit suppliers, rape and pilage all the info you cna get from them, as no doubt they have been asked all the questions before, and then if you must, purchase it off fleabay!

Just my 2p!

Sanjoy

I have that kit (the nokia one) and althought it does work on bluetooth, it seems to forget your code and wont connect sometimes. This happens every couple of weeks on average. You then have to reset the device with the engine off, then wait for a while (like over an hour - usually I wait till the next day) then re-pair the phone to the carkit. Its a right PITA and always happens when I need to make calls in the car.

Use the wired connection and the cradle. I would if I could find somewhere to stick the cradle in the Elise.
