I'm "doing" Le Mans for the first time this week with some of the VX boys, and i wondered if anyone else was planning it ?
Haven't booked crossing yet so open to any suggestions !

Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
....did i ever tell you about the Evora and VX220 i used to own?

Been twice, would love to do it again.... But not this year
Don't miss the roundabout in Camping Houx on Friday night for top sillyness. Do look at the museum at least twice (if you're a long term LM junkie like me) Get down to Indianapolis and the end of the Mulsanne during the night - breathtaking.
Don't bother hammering the Peages too fast - especially round the toll booths. The Gendarmes have got sick of it now and the last time I went, a few licenses were confiscated by the side of the road.... (take a pax who can drive!)
HAVE FUN! Best atmosphere in the world...

There is only one way to do it. Drive in the sports car and have some mates meet you there in a campervan with your own shower and fridge.
No Giles, a paddling pool doesn't count as a fridge!

Gaylord! Sleeping on the ground is easy if you're pissed and you can step round the turds in the campsite showers!!!

I thought the paddling pool was a touch of genius 8 Euros from the French supermarket, not only was it a fridge it was also air conditioning, sitting with my feet in it certainly cooled me down,, and 'cause it was so cheap I didn't mind leaving it behind, mind the water was a touch sh!tty by the end of the week.
Everything you need for a camping trip can be fitted into an Elise, total luxury.
Plan to go again in a few years time, when we should organise a big SE trip.

We should organise a big SE trip. Take a bit of planning so what about 2008?
Any takers?
Mac
(PS: I'm just an idea's man - this by no means I'll be taking anything to do with organising it

)

We have to 6 footers in a VX
.....planning on buying most food and beer at the hypermarket to save space, but really looking forward to it. Putting my brother in law on the insurance for the weekend hopefully......and i think he's looking forward to that more than Le Mans itself.
What ports did you use guys ?

I'd be up for that next year.
But also considering doing it again this year - want to see the diesel Audi!!
Anybody else looking to make a run of it? (We went from Dover on the Hoverspeed last year by the way)
Edited to ask... Lazy Donkey did you mean 'this week' or are you talking about June? In which case ignore my question above!

Dover Calais Catemaran, long drive to Dover (and back) but very short crossing, and Calais to Le Mans via Rouen is good, the final bit of autoroute has just opened from Rouen to Alencon, the only hold up now is around Rouen.

I agree, 2008 would be a good plan, I would be happy to organise this, I learnt abit about it last year. Starting Early and getting people to commit early is the key.

Well looks like it wil be Dover - Calais, but still considering the chunnel as its only £25 more than the ferry.

Up for 2008 depending on which car I have.
Maybe an Exige or a beige Volvo...
