Indictor popped out this morning...
lo
brakes were locked on solid this morn - ploughed the chipped drive to the road and then they freed.
so, was going to work - just called to say id be late - overtook a car - the passenger front indicator popped out!
meh
so stopped and borrowed some brown tape from the boot to keep it in place.
called up mmc and they are looking to see if any are in stock.
If any are - could someone pop along and bring it to the meet tonight?
Ive posted on the meets thread already
cheers
Phil

You park in the open? If it's under a carport or something, a good idea is to get the brakes hot before parking up (thrash it if you're not in a housing estate, or just left foot brake a bit on the last minute or so of your drive home)
Any moisture on them at that point evaporates and they are less likely (although not immune) to rusting so badly...

Phil,
Your best to go down to MMC and have it fitted. They shouldn't be popping out on newer cars (it was a design flaw of the P clip on older ones)
It could be that you have an excess of clam on the underside (trying to be polite for saying the fibreglass could have a snottery bit on it) which will need filing down, as was the case in mine.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but they will only supply it once under warrenty if you choose to do a self fix.
Cheers

I'd get them to do it as it looks a pain to me.
Mac, you might remember mine also popped out last year on a Campaganza and I posted about it on Yahoo. So the problem hasn't been fixed on newer cars after all.
Phil, what I did until I got it fixed was take the bulb and tape it inside the clam so it still worked and could be seen. When I parked up, I just stuck the broken indicator in place to stop water collecting if it rained.
Just remember to take it out again before you drive off!

a pain? Looks easy to me.
just slot in the bottom bit and press in - the clip should grab hold of the clam and stay in place.
the clam seems ok to me. ill check it more at lunchtime.
I asked (cant remember his name - Andrew?) about fitting it and he said he had asked the technicians and they said it wasnt a difficult job - but that I could phone if I get stuck. No mention of a warranty problem there - so I am taking that as no change to warranty.
If its a problem to fit, ill just pop down on saturday.
that would be great if u could Ed
They have printed out an invoice for me too (for an oil change that was done in june)
thanks

Is your a newer car?
Feels like you've been around for ages!!!!!!
And campanza driving is a bit different for what Phil was doing. IIRC the thinner S2 bodies flex more and hence there is an chance that any S2 elise will pop an indicator, it's just that the driver has to work a wee bit harder to do it.
On the older cars like mine they were flying out if you went over a cat's eye and alike.
Of course I could have just been affected by the proaganda
