A mate of mine is working on the new nimrod and sent this through, its part of the official report of high altitude depressurization tests:
CABIN LEAKAGE TESTS
The Leakage Rate checks at 36 000 ft proceeded as briefed and definitely benefited from all of the pre-flight processes that established the safety strategy and systems management for this test. With one pack OFF, and after a short period of vertical rate cycling, the system recovered the initial cabin altitude of 6 100ft. With two packs OFF the vertical rate cycling was slightly more prolonged, the cabin altitude stabilised at 6 400ft. With three packs OFF, the cabin altitude climbed to stabilise at 22 200ft, well above the anticipated maximum of 17 000ft. As an alternative Cabin Altitude High indicator, it was noted that the Walkers crisp packets all exploded simultaneously at a cabin altitude of 10 100ft. There appeared to be no difference in performance between Ready Salted and Salt and Vinegar.
Watch those crisps next time you fly!
