Hi Guys,
Had a nightmare today, came back from work and pressed the fob to open the car, the alarm kept going off, anyway long story short I had to call the AA. The guy came out and tried lots of things like putting power to the +ve plug etc - no joy. So im having it put on skates and loaded onto a pickup where its being taken to the garage to see if they can solve the mystery? Guys at lotus say that wot the AA guy did usually fixes the problem but no joy.
Any1 had similar problems? The guy rekons that the fob may be confused because of all the aircraft at the airport? (I work at Heathrow btw) but this is no good to me as I work there??
HELP!
Cheers....

There was a post on here the other week on how to reset the code in the fob after changing battery... it's in the handbook. Does that work?
I have no signature.

I have never heard of anything on a civil aircraft or ground radar effecting a modern car.
Sounds like what has been posted in the past for a flat/ duff battery in the past .

There was an outer marker for Glasgow airport that used to set off my Audi's alarm every time I parked near it.... dunno if that's relevant...

That was a really old piece of kit (I take it you mean the GLG in Bearsden?). It's gone now...
The Elise spends a fair proportion of it's life either next to Glasgow tower (full of R/T stuff) or virtually under the Prestwick radar which dates from the early years of the Crimean war. I would have thought if anything would interfere with car electrics that would...

The mobile phone mast at work used to open rover 75 door's and open close the roof on a BMW 3 series.
no real proof that it's the mast but it's our best guess

very interesting post.
I used to have a Brabus Smart Roadster (loved it), and once when I was up in Aviemore for the weekend, parked it at a forest walk carpark and left it for a couple of hours. Came back, car wouldnt open, respond to key fob, do nothing. Opened the car manually - car wouldnt start. Had to get AA called out.
The wee dude that was working in the carpark then told me that apparently quite alot of "fancy german cars" had suffered the same fate. The car was parked under old Hydroboard electrical cables, which are nowadays used not only for powering the substations but for carrying data too. The data pulse had completely wiped the key, and therefore permanantly locked the immobiliser, necessitating a reset from a Smart dealer (Mercedes in Inverness in this case).
So, I can sympathise, and totally understand that in certain places, with alot of "electrical noise", these crazy things can happen.........

and mine sits the other side of the PIK radar, never had a problem, or heard of one with any of the other cars.
