Bugger.
Bugger.
A few months ago I started building a new garage which I finished last week.
This mornign I was putting a new bike rack on the Xsara and after assembling it (the bike rack not the Xsara) I was about to put it on the car when I thought - "I can do it in my new garage!".
So rather than carry the rack to the car I leapt into my car to reverse it into the garage.
Unfortunately I forgot the tailgate was open.
I had an ipod on so didn't hear the crunch as the tailgate hit the brand new (and rather expensive) roller door, to then go on to get itself tangled in the bike that hangs from the ceiling.
The tailgate now sits at a rather jaunty angle when open and only closes with a very firm slam and there is a dent in my new garage door.
BOLLOCKS BOLLOCKS BOLLOCKS.
(edited for many many typos. And for clarity it's not that bad. I mean it all still works it's just annoying.)

Ooops....
Bummer mate.
Look on the bright side- could have been worse. A neighbour of my folks (about 80yo) bought a brand new auto merc (his first automatic) and on getting it home drove through his garage door and the back wall of the garage. There was a 6ft drop at the rear too. The worst of it was his wife was guiding him towards the garage door to park it at the time....she cushioned the bonnet but ended up in a bad way and lost some toes- how she survived that at all is a miracle

My driving lately has been largely very poor.
This month I have driven the Citroen into one of the gateposts (wing mirror now held on with gaffer tape.)
Driven Lotus into neighbour's parked Fiesta. Small scratch on Lotus, small dent in neighbour's car (120UKP to fix neighbours car, mine will probably polish out).
Had borrowed bike rack fall off Citroen*. Twice**. Numerous scratches and a small dent on car and more annoyingly numerous scratches to wifes new bike.
After today's escapade Suzy's comment was
"Jeez, what's the matter with you? Can you just stop driving like a bloody woman?"
Pete
*Hence purchase of new rack instead of borrowing one.
**Suzy did suggest that it was because I was driving a little bit exuberantly for someone who has two bikes hanging off the back of the car. She may have had a point.

I'm sure your motives are as clean as can be. Will post photos of new garage just to show it off. The dent in the door may be harder to show because I am married*.BiggestNizzy wrote:mattg wrote:pics?![]()
so we can sympathise more honest
Pete
*"Because I am married" does not, on first reading, seem to explain why a dent in my garage door should be less visible today than it was last night.
I only knew I had hit the door after I got to work last night when S phoned me - I didn't actually know I had hit the door at all, I thought I had got my tailgate tangled in my bike (which lives suspended from te ceiling).
So when S told me I had put a bloody great dent in it I was understandable pissed off and posted a message on here.
When I got home this morning the dent didn't to me look that big. In fact if I wasn't actually looking for it I wouldn't have known it was there. The single amongst you would probably think
"but why would Pete's wife make it sound like he has caused far more damage than he actually has. That just seems mean!"
The married amongst you are nodding sagely as you know the answer - it's just point scoring, which is essentially what married life is about. She was able to accuse me of something, and get an apology which may be of use at a later date. Even though the apology was far out of proportion to the event I was apologising for, it's said now and can't be unsaid. Next time she does something her retort will be
"But you reversed into the garage door when it was new!"
Which will be the only detail either of us remember, the non-dent will have been long forgotten.

I had several incidents with my garage in Newcastle, but then at least I had an excuse for that as the garage space was at a 30° angle to the garage door!!
