Just got a last minute deal for tomorrow night at the Loch Fyne Hotel.

Hoping it's gonna be Lotus weather, and looking for a good route. Most direct seems to be along M8 and then up past Loch Lomond, then back down towards Loch Fyne. But, wouldn't mind some nice roads.

Thinking about heading to Trossachs/Dukes Pass and going above Loch Lomond... then down to Loch Fyne. Not very up to date with the roads after Trossachs though, so any suggestions welcome.

After the Dukes Pass follow signs for Lochearnhead then Crianlarich. From there you gave two options, south by Loch Lomond (crap bit of road) then onto the A83 at tarbet over the Rest and be Thankfull, (good bit of road but busy) or head north via Tyndrum turn left onto the Oban road (good but busy) then left again onto the A819 to Inveraray (good road).

nah - you want to head stirling, then on to calander and the dukes pass in reverse through to Aberfoyle and then onwards towards Glasgow. Take a right where it's sign posted for the esrkine bridge - stay on the north side of the clyde towards Dumbarton and onward to loch lomond. Over the old MOD road and up the shore of loch long to arochar - watch out for low flying moments - the round the head of the loch and up the Rest and Be thankful and onward to Loch Fyne

What is this 'Rest and be Thankful' bit then? and why's it called that?

Weather today is bad, but tomorrow is meant to be a bit better... and Monday a bit better again (for the drive back again).
