MMC

Post by Jamie84 » Mon Jul 30, 2007 8:39 pm

was today told by MMC that my car infact isnt covered by lotus manufactures warrenty....ok....I bought the car under the impression that it had warrenty till september . Guy told me that repairs could cost as much as £600. So i told him to go ahead and carry out the work as it had to be done anyway , warrenty or no warrenty . A soon as i came off the phone i thought hold on a min the cars a bloody 55 plate , therefore registered in Sept so its under 2 years old . Phoned the guy back and he said he will double check tomorrow incase he has made an mistake .

I cant help but think i am gonna have a nightmare with MMC.......

can someone just clarify for me that if its a 55 plate , then its defo registered in sept or later?

here is my new ride by the way .....minus the sunstrip

If 57 will be 1 Sept '07, working back : 56 - 1 Sept '06, 55 1 Sept '05, so still within two years, unless some monkey business going on with the registration.

All cars in EU have min 2 years warranty...

Sounds like an annoying situation - I know back in the day smart of edinburgh gave me some pish about build dates not registration dates being when the warranty starts. No idea how Lotus works.

What exactly is wrong with it?

well as you may know it was leaking gearbox oil , george at service MMC mentioned something "shaft" cant remember clearly . said it was a complete gearbox out job . he had already said to be that the warrenty is from registation date so i am covered with that bit . also said that my rear passenger tyre was on the wrong way !!

I really hope they dont try and rip the pish as i'd like to have a good relationship with MMC and am looking to extend my warrenty come september , but if they are gonna mess me around then will defo be taking my busness elsewere

Looking closely at pic3 in the link you can see its on the wrong way (drivers side)

Sounds like you`ll be OK on the warranty so no worries.

Sounds like you bought it from your brother - if so, don't be so hard on MMC, but 1)it's till in warranty, 2) the word "shaft" may have been used to describe what they intended to do to you 3) accept no crap and 4) buy that extended warranty.....

Warranty is from registration date so provided it has a full service history and no sub-standard parts fitted that could affect the part in question there's no arguing.

A little bit of brightening on the pic shows your drivers side tyre is the wrong way round:
