Anyone cracked a rib?

Think I might have cracked a rib after taking a tumble off the bike the other day. Anyone know how long it is likely to take to heal? I've got 2 important trials on the 5th and 12th and need to get the entry forms in but not sure if I'll be fit enough or just make it worse.
cheers

Have done it once depends on how bad you did it can be a months
Mate broke a couple on a jetski with a errr 'very curvy' girl as his pax - they hit a wave and he was crushed between the handle bars and the girl

Takes about 4-6 weeks to heal properly. Usually fairly debilitating for 2-3 weeks. Deep breathing/sneezing/coughing/sleeping usually sore for 1st couple of weeks. Painkillers help to some extent but dont really make the difference between 'being too sore' to do something and being 'ok'.

I've had sore ribs for 7 weeks now after injuring them in a go karting event.

(Got rammed in the side during the cool down lap.

)
Don't know if they were cracked or broke but pretty bloody sore and still are. Sleeping and deep breathing was pretty painful so movement was more so.
Never bothered with pain killers just have to put up with it. Just don't fall off again too soon.

ditto: did the same at the endurance carting at KH (still came in first though

)
deep breathing was a bit sore and I could feel it clicking if I moved in a certain way...which was actually worse than any pain.
It gave me jip for a while but thers nothing the doctors do about them.

I cracked one carting, it was very close to my spine and hurt for a long time, atleast two weeks before I could sleep properly, 6 weeks to heal, then I cracked one in the front of my rib cage skiing but I carried on with my skiing holiday with a few pain killers and no real problems, no idea for the difference.

Hit a Glentress tree at speed with my shoulder last Thursday, stayed upright, imagination working overtime when I got to the bottom, not good.

Cracked a couple before. Took months (about 3) for the pain to go away. 3 to 4 weeks for the pain to become bearable! Developed congestion and a nasty cough tho due to only shallow breathing which made it a lot worse and dragged it out a bit.
Seems to depend where the crack occurs tho.

I've cracked a few in my time when I did full contact Karate. It depends on the location and if it's displaced.
If your not too bad at rest then you can get past with some gaffa tape and strong painkillers.

I've craked my sternum before, playing rugby. That was pretty damn sore for the first couple of weeks - took about 8 weeks to heal properly!
Also tore the intercostal muscles down one side of my chest - the whole right hand side of my rib cage was black wiht bruising!
Depends on how badly, which ones you've hurt as to how long it takes to heal!
Take it easy!
