Speed bumps in Edinburgh south

Once I pick up my Elise on Saturday I'm probably going to pop in and visit my parents who live on the south side.
Unfortunately their road had those stupid speed bumps fitted a few years ago.
Does anyone know if I'll be OK taking the Elise over these or should I be wary of it grounding?

should be ok on standard suspension. I've got nitrons on at 115/125mm ride height and i've never had a problem. Just wont get up the kerb to my driveway thats all. :x

Great, thanks.
Was thinking I was going to have to park a block away and walk the last bit.

Cheers.

you should be okay but i have grounded the front clam 3 times on speed bumps........it makes simply the worse noise you can imagine....still gutted!

95% of the time you'll be fine though :)

You can also complain to the council if they are more than 100mm and have them reduced or removed. Recommended maximum is 70mm.

Mines fine on the speedbumps around the Grange in Edinburgh they are pretty meaty so take them easy one wheel on one off and you`ll be fine!

And make sure you don't brake as you go over them!

I touched the brake pedal coming off one in hillside and as mentioned it makes an awful crunching noise. The council have had to dig a lot of them up as they were too steep. A-holes! As mentioned, one wheel on and one wheel off and you will be fine!

Thanks for the hints.
So are you saying to "attack" them diagonaly?

Depends which type. Unfortunately there are loads of different types in the burgh. In morningside/brunstfield etc they are not continuous across the whole road. I believe that the clearance at the front of a 111r is significantly better than the exige, just take em slow and youll be fine.Cheers Ed

I have had my s1 since jan last year. covered 12000 miles in that time.and enjoyed every single fcuking mile. Speed bumps are not a problem in an elise.
To be honest i expected a multitude of problems with owning on elise .the old saying lotus( lots of trouble usually serious)really is a load of tosh .
12000 miles over pot holes rough roads thats east lothian. The only no no is cobbles feels like the hole car is shaking to bits!!!My mate has just bought an ferrari 360 spider which bottons on speed bumps low bits of road kerbs etc , wouldnt swap my s1 especally in the twisty stuff infact i have on the Moffit road outgunned the 360 through the twisty stuff. Looking at my mates face in a car 4 times the price says it all.

Hope you enjoy your elise as much as i do, get out there and give it plenty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
