Just had a letter from my bank informing me they will be refunding 2.5k into my bank account in the next 30 days.....
All it took was two letters, which incidentally took 2 minutes to change templates from
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com, 1 x recorded delivery letter, and their first letter said "sorry, but we are not paying you a penny" My second letter went recorded delivery, saying thank you, but i will now be looking into court proceedings" 14 days later i get a letter saying, whilst we do not accept we are in the wrong legally, we as a gesture of goodwill will credit the money straight to your account!
Fantastic!!!!

Tom,
I played it stupid i guess and didn't bother asking them for a list of all my bank charges, I merely worded it in such a way that i said I knew how much they were due, and i would be seeking the full amount.
It turns out that they had obviously asked for all my statements internally anyway as they arrived at my door without charge, did a quick flick (no way was i trawling the lot!), saw a figure of 1500, so was happy with that!
To get over 2k i was delighted! My post was not to gloat, but merely to say to those thinking about it - just do it! Oh and to highlight what a cock i was with my money in my early years!

That £400 is legally yours though mate!
£400 - that's got to help in some way, shape or form, even if it gets put into saving account, or an Elise pot, or perhaps pissed up against the wall on a big bender.... the point being it was not their money to take!

Seems to be more and more noise about banks and credit card companies having to introduce account fees, to offset the money they won't be making from charges any more.
As I've never had a bank or credit card charge in my life, I wouldn't be happy about having to pay for these services.
As far as I'm concerned, if people are spending money they're not entitled to spend, then they bally well should be charged.
Rather than refunding charges, I'd be doubling them, and would tell any complainants to kindly fcuk off.
Harrumph.
