No fuel duty on veg oil

Just been watching working lunch and they were saying you no longer have to pay fuel duty if you run your car on vegetable oil or reclaimed vegetable oil . At 55p a litre for vegetable oil almost makes it worth while to buy a diesel shed that can run on vegetable oil . The limit is 2500 litres ( about 20 k miles)of oil and you have to keep records.
That could be a big saving on your fuel bills . I suppose however if everybody does the price of oil will rise .

I remember going to ASDA with Thinfourth for emergency fuel for the Landie. Handy it comes in ready made plastic containers with integral pouring spout (and smells OK).

The Welsh cottoned on to this a while ago, and were getting it for free from Chip shops.
It was an easy way for the shop to dispose of it, and the motorists were then filtering it and putting in a pint of additive, can not remember what it was, but paraffin or similar. You were supposed to pay duty on it then, around 22p per litre.
They did a 300 mile journey in an oldish Volvo diesel estate, and it ran fine.

White spirit, at a ratio of 10:1-20:1 or there abouts, removes the stickyness in the oil apparently....
Its also a good idea to filter out the chips...

Good news. What a farce it was in the first place paying duty on vegatable oil!
