Film recommendation: Tell No One

Post by dezzy » Sat Jul 07, 2007 12:11 am

Went to see Tell No One tonight. French film about a guy whose wife is killed suspiciously and a very interesting plot throughout. I won't say anymore in case I spoil it!

It's probably the best film I've seen all year, and I see a fair amount of films at the cinema (being a Cineworld unlimited card holder :D). Was fantastic! Go see it! :thumbsup

So in English subtitles?
Best film I ever saw was The Downfall. About Hitler in German with English subtitles...you quickly forget you're reading.

If the film is any good you don't mind, and it helps with your language skills.

Yup, tis indeed subtitled. I know about two words of French!

I've heard City of God is good, but still not got round to seeing it. *makes mental note to buy the DVD*

I find it hilarious how Cineworld staff have to warn you when you get tickets for a subtitled film. I go to see quite a lot of subtitled films (big fan of asian cinema, in particular their horror stuff) and they never used to warn you. I figure that if you're going to see a film like that, you've probably read up on it and know it's in a foreign language. But these days, they always say "you do know it's subtitled, don't you?". I think it must be because all the wee Glasgow neds started going to the asian horror films thinking they were just another Hollywood horror and probably left after about 2 minutes saying "whit's aw that p!sh man. a cannae read and watch a film at the same time man. ma heed's no got enough braincells fir that!"

Das Boot was a TV series, with subtitles the first time, brilliant, then repeated with dubbed English and virtually unwatchable.

:withstupid

on both counts, croutching tiger even with the original actors doing the dubbing wasn't as good, you seem to get away with it better with animation though

I watched Toy Story2 with Norwegian subtitles cause I couldn't figure out how to switch them off (remote wasn't working)...

I think that qualifies me as an intellectual... no? The kids watch a lot of their DVD's in Spanish coz they think it's hilarious.
