Had a very distressed phone call from my wee neice this afternoon, separated from her mum in the crowds at heathrow in this afternoons bomb scare, on her way to Eurodisney.
She tried to approach a policeman, who pushed her away. I know they're under pressure, but not a nice experience.
Where is John Smeaton when we need him?

A bomb scare in kilmarnock today briefcase left at tesco's they shut off the 1 way system.
Just think though if it had happened last week some junkie would have just stolen it.
Then we might have had the headline
Al-Qaeda target Kilmarnock crack house, Longpark destroyed - Area Improved

Was that what it was? - I had to cycle throught the bus station to get around it...
We were in Prestwick airport a few weeks ago when a young Asian looking lad, late teens early twenties, dropped a large holdall in the gift shop ("World of Tat - shortbread, tartan and tartan shortbread" if you know it) and ran.
I told the girl in the shop to call security, she replied "you what love?"
I said "Just call switchboard and ask for security, then tell them you have a suspicious package."
She said "Eh, errm I only just work here. I might have a number somewhere."
I said "I'll go and get someone."
Got someone who reluctantly wandered over from staff search. He looked at the bag, didn't listen to my description of the bloke who'd dumped it, kicked the bag then wandered off. 5 minutes later he's back with two friends and they have a really good look at the bag, then pick it up and take it back stage.
A few minutes after that the young lad returns looking for his bag which is returned to him.
I imagine after Saturday their reaction may be slightly different.

Ons suspects that there will be all sorts of over reactions for the next few weeks I am off to London this weekend and can just imagine how much fun the security will be.

Al-Qaeda, Osama bin Laden, Bomb "death to infidels" that sort of thing that should trigger things enough to get a visit
