What would you guys think a reasonable price for the following car would be:
1998 S Reg XKR 4.2 Supercharged Jag Coupe.
Red, interior cream coloured leather. Apparently all optional extras available at that time. One owner, full service history all carried out at the same Jaguar Dealer each time. 50K miles, just over 5,000 a year. Absolutely flawless condition, well looked after - looks new.
And no, not a replacement for the Lotus before you ask!!
Gary.

12K would be a good price I would guess?
Might be of interest to BrianJ, he mentioned them recently ....

Try checking against Jaguar website for used cars - lots of examples to compare - but I was looking for something more recent - and, no, not to replace Exige

They are wanting 17k. I have seen some as little as 12, and some closer to 20. It is in absolute mint condition.
Got a chance to part ex our 307CC for it, which will bag us 14k of the bill.
Gary.
PS - It's a dealership selling, not private.

Guess it comes down to the deal. I had a look on autotrader and theres lots at 12-14.
If they are giving you good p/x then I guess that 17k ask for the car is ok if they are inflating the px amount.
Swings and roundabouts how they cut it, make the car cheap and give you less for 307, as long as you are happy.

This one looks almost identical in spec, however the bonnet in the one we are looking at has two grills which I think is due to the 4.2 engine size.

Think two grilles generally means a XKR rather than non-supercharged XK8.
Have to buy thirsty cars now before they're made illegal.....

What do you think as for value for money? Trouble is, I know nothing about cars and driving up in the Lotus, they may have seen me coming!

If it was a MMC group dealer they have probably heard of " the £36k elise" on the company grapevine, and thought it was a second coming....
But seriously, if you`re not sure then maybe its not the right deal - if you`re happy, go for it. Its your cash at the end of the day
edited to add; mega amount of car for the cash

That one has bonnet grills too

That was part of the standard spec on all XKRs AFAIK.
Nice car, & a lot of car for the money. Remeber to haggle, you are looking for lots of money off

Don't rate the Xk8 at all.
Haven't driven an XKR though, just the normal wallowy beast.
Prepare yourself for substantial running costs

i would say at 17k the price is a bit on the high side, i would say 16k was its top price. they are good cars though im currently driving a 98 xkr, a 98 model wil be the 4.0 engine, check if the engine has been replaced under warranty, early cars had nikasil bores which were later changed to steel.
