Pressure wave supercharger?

ANyone shed any light on this?

been googling a bit and it seems to work on exhuast scavenge? Very odd...

Looks like a hybrid design - probably to get the best of both worlds (and in reality weighing about as much as both put together)
Not seen one before...

Looks like a homemade design by welding a turbo to a pulley - I suppose it's really a two stage device - low pressure supercharger feeding a turbocharged compressor.
It might be useful as an anchor or a large paperweight - I cannot imagine it fitted to an elise - perhaps the pink pig?
